Janet L. Barsoumian - owner and founder of A1 Speech Therapy, Inc. –has over 15 years experience working with children and adults with communication difficulties and disabilities. She has a B.S. in Linguistics, Psychology, and Cognitive Science with a Specialization in Computing from UCLA, and an M.S. in Communication Disorders and Sciences from CSUN. She is also a post-graduate Maternal and Child Health Fellow and Autism Fellow in Communication Disorders of the USC University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Interdisciplinary Training Program.
Janet is credentialed by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and is a licensed speech-language pathologist and audiometrist per California's Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. She is also certified in the "It Takes Two to Talk" Hanen Method, a program designed specifically for children with language delays. She is also an orofacial myologist and treats orofacial myofunctional disorders, such as tongue thrust, mouth breathing, nail-biting, and thumb-sucking and is PROMPT trained and treats apraxia. With her vast knowledge and background, Janet is not only able to help individuals with a variety of communication difficulties, she is eager to provide a warm, colorful, and inviting
environment to both her clients and staff.
