About Us

Our Founder

Janet L. Barsoumian - owner and founder of A1 Speech Therapy, Inc. – has over 20 years experience working with children and adults with communication difficulties and disabilities.  She has B.S. degrees in Linguistics, Psychology, and Cognitive Science with a Specialization in Computing from UCLA, and an M.S. in Communication Disorders and Sciences from CSUN. She is also a post-graduate Maternal and Child Health Fellow and Autism Fellow in Communication Disorders of the USC University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Interdisciplinary Training Program.  Janet is credentialed by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and is a licensed speech-language pathologist and audiometrist by California's Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. With her vast knowledge and background, Janet is not only able to help individuals with a variety of communication difficulties, she is eager to provide a warm, colorful, and inviting environment to her clients with her team.  

Our Team

Our A1 Speech Therapy team consists of caring and creative individuals who are dedicated to helping their clients achieve their communication goals.  We continuously incorporate new and research-based technologies and methodologies and always have our clients' best interest at heart.  While our speech-language pathologists and speech-language pathologist assistants focus on identifying, assessing, and treating speech and language disorders, they are also here to counsel and support you on your communication journey.  Providing customized care is important to us and we are happy to collaborate and coordinate with other related professionals and family members who are invested in your communication success.  

A1 Speech Therapy launched in 2009 (originally known as A1 Speech Therapy, LLC) in Camarillo, CA with the mission to make a positive difference in people's lives.  While we continue to grow, the quality and impact of our care remain of utmost importance to us, and are what guide us in every decision we make.
